Press pLAy: Amy MacDonald

Song Lyrics

Amy MacDonald - This is the life

Oh the wind whistles down

The cold dark street tonight
And the people they were dancing to the music vibe
And the boys chase the girls with the curls in their hair
While the shy tormented youth sit way over there
And the songs they get louder
Each one better than before

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

So your heading down the road in your taxi for four
And you're waiting outside Jimmy's front door
But nobody's in and nobody's home 'til four
So you're sitting there with nothing to do
Talking about Robert Riger and his motley crew
And where you're gonna go and where you're gonna sleep tonight

And you're singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Press pLAy : Skins Season 5

Just watched the first episode of Season 5 of Skins and it totally confirmed my rant the other night about Skins US sucking in comparison. The original Skins is by far the best. Just got introduced to the new cast and based on them as well as the storyline, awesome music and innovative cinematography it promises to be a really great season.

Press pLAy asap :)

Press pLAy : Goldfish

South African DJ duo Goldfish released their third album Get Busy Living last year and as with the two previous albums, they present us with more chilled tracks and excellent party vibe music. If you ever get the chance, go to one of their concerts, I promise it'll be one of the best jams you'll ever experience. Their music is electric, instrumental madness with a couple of sick beats and african sound.

Best Tracks on Get Busy Living are:
* Brush Your Hair
* We Come Together
* Big Band Wolf
* Get Busy Living
* Crunchy Joe
* Humbug

It's an awesome album and definitely worth splashing some cash on! Next time I'm in Cape Town it's on my list to be driving along the coast line listening to Goldfish... Press pLAy :)

Press pLAy : Skins

The original Skins is a British tv series, and so far we've witnessed four seasons of hard-hitting, honest, no-holding-back awesome relatable teen drama. It's a brilliant show that twists out the inner workings of the teen mind, showing the dark, the destructive and the loved up behaviour today's teens possess.

Season 1 and 2 had the first cast of characters, namely Tony, Sid, Michelle, Cassie, Chris, Jal, Anwar and Maxxie. These seasons were the cement for why Skins became a popular tv show. In Season 3 and 4 a new cast was introduced, namely Effy, Pandora, Thomas, Cook, Freddie, JJ, Emily, Katie and Naomi. At first it was hard to adjust to the new cast, seeing as the orginal cast was phenomenal, but they soon won over the audience with more awesome story lines and alot more drama. And not to mention the amazing music featured on the show and really clever cinematography (camera angles for those who don't know).

Apparently there is set to be a new cast for season 5 which should be out late January 2011. Can't freaking wait!!

For the mean time I've checked out Skins US which is a remake by MTV, but I'm not that impressed with it at the moment. It's the exact same story line as the original British Skins. It's like watching a bad version of a story you know and love. Not cool. If they'd come up with some new story lines then maybe it would've worked.

For now, i'll hold out until Skins Season 5 airs :)

Press pLAy : The Fighter

Looking for a brilliant movie to watch? Then look no further then The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.

The Fighter is based on a true story and although the film centres around boxing, it's most memorable feature is the  complicated relationship between two brothers, one a failed boxing star who is addicted to crack, and the other a boxer on the mission to achieve success. Their brotherly bond is both torn apart by boxing, as well as redeemed by it.

This movie is so honest and the characters are exceptionally well portrayed. Christian Bale recently won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, and once you've watched the movie, it's a well deserved win on his part.

Put The Fighter on your pLAy list, it's one of those movies you just have to see!!

Press pLAy : The Parlotones

The Parlotones is a South African band that have literally 'spread their wings' and flown across the world! At the moment their 2009 album Stardust Galaxies has songs which have been featured in many American televisions shows such as One Tree Hill, Jersey Shore (season 3, episode 4) and Pretty Little Liars. As a fellow South African, I'm pretty damn proud of these boys and the waves their music is making around the world.

For those who don't know, The Parlotones are a rock band whose lead vocalist is Kahn Morbee. Their music is catchy, feel good and something you'll be jumping around too if you go to one of their concerts. Time to check them out!

Best tracks on the album:
* Should we fight back
* Push me to the floor
* Brighter side of hell (this song was featured in Jersey Shore)

Press pLAy, this band deserves alot more air play :)
