The more time I spend teaching art, the more I have begun to notice that everyone sees the world differently. Something that is beautiful to me may be hideous to you, and vice versa. This could possibly mean that everything is beautiful, its just our opinions that determine exactly how beautiful.
Very often in class, children come up to my desk, full of pride and happiness, wanting to show me their art picture. Sometimes when I look, I see dull colours and barely recognizable shapes. So I ask the child what they have drawn. The child launches into a detailed story of all the wonderful things that are happening on their page. To them, what they have drawn and what their eye perceives is beautiful. How can I argue with that?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You just have to open your eyes, and your mind will follow. Its beautiful out there :)
And it is beautiful in here.... :) Hi Lam. I stumbled across your blog today and fell in love! I just made it through the whole thing and must say that you have an amazing way with words and a beautiful outlook on life. It's not often that things get the best of me but I have been caught up in some heavy stuff lately, really funny that I found this today, thanks for the reminder to appreciate. :) It is way to ironic for me not to comment. I'm going to check in here once in a while, maybe you can fire this old blog back up! :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you Lam!!!
